Estate Planning
(Wills, Powers of Attorney and Advanced Directives)
This includes drafting of wills, codicils, powers of attorney, medical powers, advance directives (living wills), trust instruments, and other estate planning documents. The firm files and probates estates and represents clients in estate litigation matters.
Family Law
Representation encompasses prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, filing and defending contested & uncontested divorce actions, child custody, child support, alimony, property division, paternity, step-parent adoptions, name changes, and guardianship proceedings. The firm provides representation in both the Collaborative Law Process and in traditional mediation/litigation models of dispute resolution.
Personal Injury
The firm represents individuals injured as the result of negligent or intentional acts in a wide variety of tort actions, including automobile, slip and fall, product liability, construction site injury, wrongful death, and other injury claims. We negotiate and settle insurance claims, file and present injury law suits before judges and juries, submit and process medical bill claims under med-pay insurance provisions, and negotiate and settle associated property loss claims. Damages recovered may include, among others, past and future medical bills and expenses, past and future pain and suffering, permanent impairment, psychological injury, loss of income, loss of future income capacity, loss of consortium, and property loss. Cases are handled on a contingency basis, typically one-third of the amount recovered, with no fee charged in the event no recovery is realized. Client’s responsibility is limited to out-of-pocket costs, if any.
Criminal and Traffic Defense
The firm provides representation from initial police investigation through indictment, trial and, when applicable, sentencing and appeal. This includes all misdemeanors, felonies and serious traffic offenses, juvenile and adult.
Civil Litigation
Representation includes filing suit and litigating cases on behlaf of clients, as well as defending clients in such actions. Representation is provided at both the trial and appellate levels, before administrative agencies, and in arbitration, mediation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
Construction Contracts and Disputes
The firm represents a variety of contractors, subcontractors, owners, tradespeople and building professionals in both complex and routine matters, in commercial as well as home improvement projects. The firm reviews, negotiates and drafts contracts; files and defends civil law suits, regulatory agency actions, and mechanic’s liens; participates in mediation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution proceedings; and generally provides advice at all levels of the construction process.
Corporate and Business
The firm represents many small to medium-sized business entities, including general corporations, close corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited liability partnerships, professional corporations and partnerships, and the like. Representation includes, but is not limited to, general business advice and counseling, formation and filing of corporate and partnership papers, drafting and negotiation of buy-sell and shareholder agreements, and the purchase and sale of businesses through asset or stock transfers. The firm also negotiates real estate leases, drafts and reviews contracts and agreements, promissory notes, and other legal instruments.
